Filter Efficiency and Ratings Filter performance is measured using standards such as: - MERV (Minimum Efficiency Reporting Value) – Ranges from 1 (least efficient) to 16 (high efficiency). Standard AHU dust filters typically fall between MERV 6 and MERV 13. - ISO 16890 – A global standard classifying filters based on their ability to capture PM1, PM2.5, and PM10 particles. Maintenance and Replacement Regular maintenance is essential to ensure optimal performance. Clogged filters increase static pressure, forcing the AHU to work harder and consume more energy. Key maintenance practices include: - Visual inspections for dust accumulation and damage. - Pressure drop monitoring across the filter to determine replacement timing. - Scheduled replacements based on manufacturer recommendations or environmental conditions.
